What is Performance Analysis?

Concept

Sometimes referred to as profiling, Performance Analysis is a specialized discipline that provides athletes and coaches with objective information that helps them understand performance.

This process is underpinned by systematic observation, which provides valid, reliable, and detailed information relating to performance. Performance Analysis can help enhance the coaching process by providing visual feedback (Video Analysis) and objective statistical analysis (Data analysis).

Video analysis: Instant feedback to help understand and improve technique, movement, video comparison, and advanced analysis.

Data analysis: From video and various sources (database), collecting and comparing data of our performance and our opponents.

How does Performance Analysis Help Athletes?

Objective information allows for more evidence-based decisions and reduces those based on speculation. In addition, using evidence to give athletes feedback helps them understand precisely what they have done to be successful or unsuccessful. This knowledge allows athletes and coaches to make the right decisions at the right time and deliver consistent performances.
