Iceplanet: Summer figure skating camp
Since now 10 years, I collaborate with Eric De Mena, manager of IcePlanet, an international summer camp. 90 skaters, 25 different nationalities. Perform'Live provides video analysis training in extra than traditional coaching.
During these 3 weeks, video analysis is one of numerous assets that offers this camp ( jump harness/ pilates course etc...). For each coach, the challenge is to teach them new tricks and optimize their techniques.
"It has become a truism that professional athletes, whether they like it or not, "are" role model for others. Talented sportspeople hardly win every time, and somtimes they do not exemplify fair play. But many athletes convey attributes about performance, character and resilience that draw admiration from fans." wrote Daryl Adair, professor of sport management, university of technology, Sydney. This article is really interesting. From my coach point of view, I use Elite skaters' techniques as model to help skaters. To acheive that efficiently, I created a video database to profile each technique.
For example, Maria Garcia Huete, 14 years old, one of our spanish skaters, is learning triple lutz. I can compare directly her technique with So Hyun An , from South Korea. I show you in slow motion the start and can see the work that Maria must to do to succeed her jump.
